Dressing for Winter Red Fish Fishing
Winter is one of my favorite times to fly fish and light tackle fish in Beaufort, SC. Don’t let “winter” scare you! The majority of our winter consists of mild days with night lows in the 40s and day highs in the upper 50’s and 60’s. Even better our red fish (red drum) school up in large schools that make for excellent shallow water sight fishing throughout the winter. With a little planning you can dress for success and enjoy some great fishing all winter.
Life on the Water by Tim Gleason
Tim Gleason is a photographer and writer from SW Florida. We had the pleasure of fishing together late winter of 2022. Following our trip, Tim surprised me by wanting to write about our experience in SW Florida’s Nautical Mile Magazine. Click the link below to read about our trip!
End of the Year Gear Review - 2021
It’s a new year and I want to give a shout out to some really awesome gear, tackle, and equipment I used in 2021. For those of you looking to make some additions or upgrades to your gear hopefully this helps you out. Before you dive in, I think it helps to know that my gear philosophy is something like, “keep it simple stupid” and “buy nice or buy twice” but don’t blow money needlessly.
What’s Biting 2022
Here in the Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Beaufort, South Carolina area we have an active fishery year-round. Being able to get into fish year-round is great news for many of my people who plan trips to this area around family schedules rather than fishing trends. That being said some parts of the year do fish better than others and some of our fish species are seasonal. Whether your plans are family driven or you want to time your trip around fishing trends, this blog should give you an idea of what my fishing will look like for 2022.
Louisiana Adventure/Film 2021
My good friend and media guru Junior Delatorre has done it again! He took a bunch of footage that our crew took while fishing Louisiana in March 2021 and created a short film capturing the experience. The film is called “End of the Road” and it is available through his Youtube Channel Tides N’ Tails. While you’re there, check out his other awesome content as well. Shout out to Caden Lloyd for joining us on this adventure and also helping create this!
